70s Soul Music The Sound of Experience

Many people sometimes wonder why so many (but not all) of the world’s most significant musicians and singers have gotten their start in the United States. It’s not just that the U.S. culture can be said to glorify entertainment and celebrity over everything else, and it’s not just because everyone wants to be an American. Many music history experts find that so much music comes from the U.S. simply because it is a diverse country, and because its people represent a plethora of significant life experiences that can’t be matched by any other nation’s population. The entire genre of 70′s soul music can be credited as an expression of the experiences of black Americans.

Learn Music Fast Online

With the advent of the internet there is no longer any excuse for not learning music if a person wants to learn. Learning music online has revolutionized learning, since it is the first time in history that anyone with a computer can virtually find out anything they want to know about music — and find out quick!

There are sites galore teaching everything about music from chords to trombone lessons to drum lessons to music theory lessons to guitar lessons to piano lessons, and a whole lot more. Many are free while others charge a very reasonable tuition. But think what a bargain that is; no travel, no traffic jams; no rescheduling lessons; no missed lessons; and because the lessons are online (or in some cases on CD’s and DVD’s) they can be replayed over and over until the lesson is thoroughly learned, which is not the case in a personal lesson or a college classroom. You have one chance to understand, and if you don’t, you’re immediately behind the curve and have to do extra studies to catch up. Not so with online music lessons.

Schoenberg, Rap Music’c Early Grandfather

Rap music has been around longer than we thought. In the arts everything is recycled (many times stolen and recycled). We have had bell bottoms make a return in fashion, the bringing back of muscle cars on the road, big haired metal bands making come backs in concert and Neo-soul music which is…new soul music. Of course many are aware that the Hip hop culture and its music started in the boogie down Bronx in the 70′s but the style or monotonous melody delivery may have been grand fathered even further back. The likes of social movement groups such as the Last Poets who released a Billboard Charting album in the 1970′s, rhythmic vocals precedes the combining of lyrics over DJ breaks by delivering a lyrical flow of poetry to the beat of ethnic drums and instrumentation. The style which resembles closely the current Def Jam Poetry series or other earlier African American poets is not far off the beat of rap. You can link traces of both to the African Griots oral tradition.

Music History Lesson Plans ? Structure Your Classes

One of the biggest problems faced by most music teachers is that their students often lose interest half way through the course. Thus, you start trying to do various things in order to revive their interest. In the process, you digress from what you had originally planned to teach them. Suddenly, you realise that the course is coming to an end, and that you hardly have any time.

You then have to rush through the lessons so that you can complete your course. In the process, learning goes for a toss. Students can barely remember what they were taught, and cannot take it forward with them to their higher levels.

You thus need to make some good, well planned Music History Lesson Plans. The basic idea of these plans is to give your lessons a definite structure. This means that you must have the objective of your course clear in your mind. You must take care of the age group of the students you are teaching, and then decide what you want them to gain out of your course.

Music Production: Tips for Recording Better Electric Bass Tracks

Introduction
The electric bass is often an overlooked part of recordings. Although most probably don’t do it intentionally, the bass becomes unimportant because less experienced engineers tend to focus strongly on “more important” tracks such as the snare drum or the all-important lead vocal. The reality is that the bass sound is essential to making a really great sounding recording. Here are some tips to help improve your bass sound.

The Most Important Thing
An all too often overlooked aspect of getting good bass sounds is the bass and the bass player. Make sure you have the right bass for the job. Also, you’d be surprised how different two tracks are where everything was identical except the player. A great, experienced bass player can make a world of difference.
